Overview of the program The Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery is a Cancer Center Support Grant core resource, providing research animal husbandry and specialized veterinary services on the MD Anderson-Houston campus. The department is comprised of 5 sections: North & South campus animal resources (housing & husbandry), Compliance and Rodent Clinical Care (rodent veterinary health and compliance programs), Veterinary Pathology (clinical pathology laboratory & anatomic and histopathology laboratory), and Experimental Surgery and Imaging Support (experimental surgery & clinical care). Each sections is directed by a veterinarian; with ten veterinary faculty including, 3 board-certified veterinary pathologists, 4 board-certified laboratory animal medicine veterinarians.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in the senior year of veterinary school recognized by the AVMA with an interest in laboratory animal medicine. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, proof of current enrollment in veterinary school and a letter of support to Dr. Lori Hill at lrhill@mdanderson.org.
Other comments Parking is expensive ($12-15/day) but Houston does have a bus system.
