2008 SALARY SURVEY OF LABORATORY ANIMAL VETERINARIANS

The ACLAM-ASLAP Salary Survey for Laboratory Animal Veterinarians for the Year 2008 has been completed. The final results are available for download.

The Salary Survey Committee wishes to thank all the members who responded to the survey. We received a 54% survey return rate, which gives us a high degree of confidence in the results.

ASLAP Veterinary Student Travel Award

The ASLAP Veterinary Student Liaison Committee (VSLC) is seeking nominations for veterinary students for the ASLAP Veterinary Student Travel Award Program. The program will provide up to 5 awards to allow interested veterinary students to travel to the 2009 AALAS National Convention in Denver, Colorado held November 8-12, 2009. Summer Fellowships in Laboratory Animal Medicine

The American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners along with several funding partners is supporting 10-12 week Summer Fellowships in Laboratory Animal Medicine. These fellowships provide an excellent opportunity for veterinary students to gain familiarity with Laboratory Animal Medicine as a career path. Charles River Short Course June 15-18, 2009

The Charles River Commitment to Humane Animal Research Through Excellence and Responsibility Program (CHARTER) is proud to sponsor a limited number of scholarships for the annual Charles River Short Course June 15-18, 2009. Topics include the biology and care of common laboratory animals, humane endpoints, and genetics and phenotyping. This year's Short Course also includes a day on practical animal behavior. The 2009 Short Course has been approved for CE credit. The scholarships include registration, five nights lodging at the Short Course hotel, most meals, and up to $500 for travel expenses. Junior veterinary students are eligible to apply.

Dues for this year are:

  • Regular members: $80 ($90 after March 31, 2009).
  • Residents: $30 ($40 after March 31, 2009).
  • Students: $22.50
  • Student Special Rate: $10
