The position(s) will be available from Mid-May until September and will be full-time paid positions ($17/hr; 40hr/week). The length of the externship can be tailored to the individual. The responsibilities of the extern will include assisting the veterinary technicians, facility manager and supervisors, and veterinarians in the various daily activities in the animal facilities. The extern(s) will rotate through various sections of the DLAM including the Animal Health Service, Rodent Breeding Service, Animal Husbandry Service, Comparative Pathology Services, and the Surgical and Interventional Research Laboratory. In addition, the extern(s) will be required to present a seminar at the end of the externship on a topic of their choice, approved by a staff veterinarian.
