2023 ASLAP Travel Award Applications Now being Accepted!

This program is intended to highlight the practice of laboratory animal medicine by providing support for veterinary students and laboratory animal medicine residents/trainees who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field to attend the National AALAS meeting.

Student Application      Resident Application

Priority will be given to qualified applicants that are:

  •  First time attendees
  •  Presenting at the conference (speaker or poster presentation), and/o
  •  Individuals with no other funding opportunities for attending the meeting.

The application materials must be submitted electronically to sally@aslap.org by June 15th. Winners will be notified by July7th.

Nominees must be:

  • A member of either their local student chapter or national ASLAP
  • A member of SAVMA (students) or AVMA (residents)
  • Either a veterinary student in good standing who is currently enrolled (at the time of the conference) in a North American AVMA-accredited College or School of Veterinary Medicine or a post-graduate veterinarian currently completing an ACLAM recognized training program in laboratory animal medicine.

Please note:

  •  Incomplete or late applications will not be evaluated
  •  Recipients can only receive the ASLAP AALAS Travel Award one time
  •  Immediate family members of current members of the ASLAP Board of Directors are not eligible to receive an ASLAP Veterinary Student Award:

Nomination packets must include:

  1.  Completed ASLAP AALAS Travel Award Application
  2.  Support from the ASLAP liaison for the University or the Residency/Training Program Director
  3.  A few sentences of support from a current ASLAP member
  4.  An essay of up to 500 words describing their interest in laboratory animal medicine, participation in activities related to laboratory animal medicine, and how attendance at the meeting will benefit their future career goals
  5.  A current CV
